I am an economist with a PhD in education interested in equity, effectiveness, and policy monitoring in education, and in advanced quantitative methods (eg., multilevel models, structural equation models, psychometric models, causal inference techniques, and spatial analysis). I have developed the R package ‘intsvy’ with analysis and visualisation tools for large-scale assessment datasets, like PISA and TIMSS.
At the University of Oxford, I have led the MSc Research Design and Methodology pathway at the Department of Education, lectured on advanced quantitative methods at the Social Sciences Division, and contributed to assessment projects at OUCEA.
As an independent consultant for UNESCO, UNICEF, World Bank, Open Society Foundations, and Inter-American Development Bank, I have contributed to capacity building in data analysis for education policy, dashboard development for policy monitoring, and production of policy briefs, factsheets, and research reports across different countries in Africa, Latin America, and Europe.
